  • WILDFIRE PREPAREDNESS

REDUCE THE FUEL AROUND YOUR PROPERTY

Wildfire risk isn't just about trees. Dense brush, dead vegetation, fallen limbs and ladder fuels can all contribute to how fire moves through a property.

    01

    SURFACE FUELS

Dry grass, brush, needles, dead limbs and woody debris can provide fuel near ground level.

    02

    LADDER FUELS

Shrubs, saplings and lower vegetation can help fire move from the ground into taller trees and the forest canopy.

    03

    DEFENSIBLE SPACE

Managing vegetation around structures can help reduce wildfire risk and create safer working space for firefighters.

    SPOKANE COUNTY PROPERTY OWNERS

FREE FIREWISE RISK ASSESSMENTS ARE AVAILABLE

  • UNDERSTANDING YOUR PROPERTY

    HOW DENSE IS THE VEGETATION?

Acreage is only part of the picture. Vegetation density, deadfall, terrain and access all affect the amount of work needed to clear a property. These three simple categories help describe what you're dealing with.

    LIGHT

    LIGHT BRUSH & OPEN GROUND

Generally easier-to-access areas with lighter vegetation and fewer obstacles.

    • Grass and weeds
    • Light brush and shrubs
    • Scattered saplings
    • Minimal deadfall
    • Mostly open or flat terrain
    MODERATE

    DENSE BRUSH & WOODY GROWTH

Heavier vegetation where the machine is doing more cutting, processing and maneuvering.

    • Dense brush
    • Significant sapling growth
    • Moderate deadfall
    • Thicker woody vegetation
    • Average terrain and access
    HEAVY

    HEAVY GROWTH & DIFFICULT CONDITIONS

More demanding properties with heavier material, difficult terrain or significant obstacles.

    • Heavy woody growth
    • Substantial deadfall
    • Larger unwanted vegetation
    • Slopes, rocks or obstacles
    • Restricted or difficult access
    ?

NOT SURE WHICH FITS YOUR PROPERTY?

You don't need to figure it out yourself. Send us a few photos, your approximate acreage and your location, and we'll help assess the vegetation and site conditions.

    WHAT AFFECTS A CLEARING ESTIMATE?

ACREAGE How much ground needs treatment
DENSITY How thick the vegetation is
TERRAIN Slopes, rocks and ground conditions
ACCESS How easily equipment can reach the work
MATERIAL Brush, saplings, deadfall and woody growth
YOUR GOAL How you want the finished property to function

  • WHY FORESTRY MULCHING?

CLEAR THE GROWTH. RECLAIM THE GROUND.

Instead of simply cutting vegetation and leaving piles behind, forestry mulching processes unwanted growth directly on the property.

    THE END GOAL

    OPEN, MANAGEABLE PROPERTY

Create room for trails, recreation, access and easier property maintenance.

    01

    PROCESS IT ON-SITE

Brush and woody vegetation are reduced into mulch instead of becoming large piles that need additional handling.

    02

    KEEP WHAT MATTERS

Clearing can focus on unwanted growth while desirable trees and property features remain where conditions allow.

    03

    GET YOUR ACCESS BACK

Open trails, fence lines, driveways and areas that vegetation has gradually swallowed.

LESS DEBRIS HANDLING Process vegetation where practical
    SELECTIVE CLEARING Keep desirable features
LESS GROUND DISTURBANCE Compared with aggressive grubbing
MORE USABLE LAND Reclaim areas you've lost
IS MULCHING RIGHT FOR EVERY JOB?

No. Some projects need excavation, large-tree removal or other equipment. We'll tell you what makes sense for the property.
